| The Dark Saiyan, the one known to his home Planet Vegeta as Akuen, entered the building. This was the space port of the Saiyan home world; the place that marked the beginning of the end for so many worlds. The structure was much like any other government construct, a large, needle shaped building made of a highly durable, white metallic alloy. There were blue spots scattered all over the face of the space port, marking the numerous windows that littered the inside as well as the outside. Several lines were visible near the top, all of them running upwards. This was the evidence of the mechanisms inside that allowed the roof to open up for any space pods within to be launched with the utmost ease.
The inside was quite different than the outside. All the floors were made of an orange, rock-like material, which was much more durable than any regular concrete. The walls looked just as white as the outer metallic alloy, but were of the same material that covered the floor. There was a large desk just ten meters in front of the door, with an elevator behind it and two sections on either side that were littered with chairs for those who needed to wait for an available space pod. Akuen was of the warring side of the Saiyans, and so he needed not to wait for any space pod. Privileges were truly wondrous things.
Akuen approached the front desk, looking as ominous as ever. He had just returned from the hospital, and was not in a happy mood to have been away from the constant battling that occurred in a Saiyan’s incredible lifespan, even if only for a week or two. Even a day was enough to throw this evil Saiyan into a rage. The two Saiyan males sitting behind the desk knew this approaching figure well, especially his temper, and were fully aware of how long Akuen had been in the critical care unit. Needless to say, the two of them were quite nervous.
The Dark Saiyan had made his way to the desk, and took up his usual pose of standing straight up, legs together, with arms crossed and an especially evil look. He was not happy. “What’s the next planet on the list?” Akuen asked in a far more irritated voice than usual, even for one such as him. The two men scrambled through the computer screens in front of them, which contained a fairly decent sized list containing all planets on the Saiyans’ agenda to conquer. They looked through the contents, quick to skip over the first few planets, since the planets were arranged by the estimated levels of the inhabitants’ power levels. “W-we have a planet r-right here, sir.” The man to the left stated in a frightened state. Both men wore the exact same outfit, the traditional legless Saiyan armor, colored light brown, much like the fashion which Nappa wore long ago.
Akuen looked at the monitor as the man turned it towards him. His angered face grew even more angered. This planet they were offering him was just like the last four, weak, and without challenge. This was no good to this Saiyan, not today. He grew tired of the same old pattern of destruction. He wanted more, something to pose a threat. Things were far too easy now, and he intended to change that this very day. The man saw the look change on Akuen’s face and grew even more scared, scurrying to scroll back up for a planet that might suit this most dangerous Saiyan. “H-how about this?” The man questioned, highlighting a planet fairly high on the charts. “It’s planet Konats, with an average power level just below yours.” The other man, who had gotten a good grip on his composure, stated for his fellow worker.
Akuen’s face gave away his intentions of outrage. He was about ready to level this entire area out of sheer anger, and the two workers could see it in his red, soulless eyes. Again they tried to find a suitable planet, deciding to go ahead and let this guy have one of the stronger planets, despite their strict orders to make sure that no Saiyan took on a planet above his power level. There was a shortage on Saiyan fighters when compared to the number of planets needed to conquer, so the higher-ups wanted to be absolutely sure that no one failed in their mission. However, these two guys were perfectly content with sending this short tempered maniac off to his death, and so had no problem with sending Akuen to…”Earth, with a power level that actually exceeds your current one. I do hope it’s suitable for you.” Both men said with a smile, at the exact same time. It was a little creepy, but hey, Akuen finally got what he wanted, and no longer had a reason to stick around.
The Dark Saiyan knew what to do; he had been here several times before, after all. Akuen walked to the right side of the desk, and went behind it to the elevator. This building was actually not a single story, but rather sixteen, with a large hole running constantly down the middle. This hole was the chute that provided any space pods that may be on any level of the building a way to the sky, for an easy exit. Akuen entered the small cylindrical room and pressed the highest button. The metal construct began its speedy ascension to the sixteenth floor, where Akuen made his exit. The Dark Saiyan walked out towards the two people gathered around a space pod, obviously readying it for a take-off.
“Hello there.” One of the scientists said kindly to the irritated Saiyan, who only responded with a nod. “Who would you like to train with on your one-year trip?” The second one, who was bent down behind the space pod, working on some of the final wiring. “I’ll take Bardock, then Vegeta.” Akuen said with a hint of excitement. He hadn’t taken this long of a trip in quite some time, and that was before this training style was in use. It was a simple method really; one was put under a machine-induced hypnosis where he would think that he was training with the desired trainer, and could learn attacks and incrase strength through numerous wires attached all over the person’s muscles. The trainer was based upon any and all information gathered and held on the Saiyan database, though there were certain things missing, such as any information on the legendary Super Saiyan.
The two scientists finished thieir work and stepped away from the pod, allowing Akuen the chance to enter it. The man stepped into the pod, allowing one of the people to secure the wires along his body. Once everything was secured properly, the pod door closed, and the roof opened up. Without so much as a warning, the pod was sent out into space, hurtling the anxious Saiyan to his desired destination of conquest: Earth. The roof closed as Akuen left orbit, allowing the workers in the building a sigh of relief. Perhaps they would no longer have to deal with that man, but even if by some miracle he did survive, it’d be another two years in the least before his return.

| Akuen hurtled through space at blinding speeds thanks to the space pod he was now in. The training simulator built into the pod began to start the initial run through, starting with the first person selected by Akuen to train him. He first chose Bardock, a Saiyan that he truly held respect for, both in power and in character. The hypnosis took effect, and the area around Akuen twisted and shifted, into that of an orange floored arena, surrounded by a black area that marked the outer limits of the training field. Akuen stood near the center, and the form of Bardock stood directly across from him, ready to begin what would surely be an extremely log and strenuous training session.
The Dark Saiyan looked to the legendary father of Kakkarot, the man who stood up to Frieza. This was the reason that Akuen respected this man; for standing up to someone knowing he had no chance of survival. Bardock wore his usual green and black Saiyan armor, with the hand band tainted in his fallen comrades’ blood. Akuen looked over the man’s face, taking note of that X shaped scar. He wondered for a moment how someone other than Frieza or King Vegeta could damage that face. He dismissed the thought and focused his mind on the training that was to come. This was going to be the time he finally learned how to fly. He’d tried it on the past six trips, but all the other trainers he had selected just couldn’t put it in a good enough explanation or example. He was wary of choosing Bardock because of the large gap in power. However, his patience had worn thin, and he was definitely going to get this technique down before reaching earth.
Bardock smiled slightly as he walked towards the awaiting trainee. Akuen stood still, analyzing what possible move Bardock was going to make. “Let’s start with energy blasts.” Bardock said in his regular voice, showing not even the slightest hint of emotion. Akuen smiled as he held his right hand forward, undoing that crossed arms position and allowing his left hand to relax at his side. Three black spheres of pure energy shot out from the Dark Saiyan’s open palm, hurtling towards the awaiting Bardock. Bardock simply jumped into the air, easily dodging the incoming ki missiles as his ascension heightened to make his use of the flying technique all the more obvious.
Akuen observed the ease at which Bardock took flight, amazed by his own inability to use it himself. It was strange now; it seemed as though the other Saiyan was covered in an aura while flying, as though his own energy was what propelled him upwards. Perhaps that was the key that Akuen sought. It’s ironic how he had never chosen Bardock for fear of being overwhelmed, when this overwhelming power is exactly what he needed to witness in order to properly learn this technique. Akuen lowered his right hand and allowed his energy to slip past his control to an extent, just enough to cause his black aura to erupt around him. Next, the Dark Saiyan leapt into the air, concentrating the majority of his aura underneath his feet. He was doing it, sort of. While his momentum was definitely used up, and yet Akuen remained in the air, he was continuously getting lower and lower, but at an annoyingly sow rate.
“What? You don’t even know how to fly?” Bardock laughed at this pitiful excuse for a Saiyan, unable to use even the most basic of techniques. This angered Akuen to the point of exploding in power, skyrocketing towards the mocking Saiyan at a truly alarming rate. Well, alarming to Akuen anyway. Bardock simply stopped laughing at flew higher into the sky, keeping a big grin on his face because, well, it was hilarious. Bardock held both arms straight forward as he flew, while Akuen had both arms locked tight at his sides. One was in control, and the other definitely was not. Bardock continued to lead the enraged Saiyan higher and higher, until eventually leaving the atmosphere. Once a sufficient distance passed the point of no oxygen, Bardock stopped and turned to face his charging student, who had blindly followed the man into space.
Akuen stopped when Bardock did, only now noticing where he was exactly, and that his lungs could no longer function. He shot a curious glance at Bardock, who was breathing just fine in the void of outer space. Akuen didn’t understand this; how could a person breathe when there is no air? Well, his thoughts were quickly cut off when he got into a desperate need for oxygen. “What’cha gonna do now?” Bardock asked in a teasing manner as his smile grew bigger. Akuen made a mad dash downwards, so that he may re-enter atmosphere, but Bardock had no intention of letting that happen. Akuen hadn’t even noticed that he was flying with no trouble at all, or that his aura had died down, which was exactly what Bardock had anticipated.
Bardock moved to intercept the fleeing Saiyan, and easily managed to overwhelm the other man’s speed. It didn’t take much, really, as Bardock far outclassed the Dark Saiyan. Akuen tried to simply charge through the obstacle in his path, to which the father of Goku responded by grabbing the attacker’s shoulder as he stepped to the left. Bardock used this to hold Akuen still whilst he shot a knee into the Dark Saiyan’s belly, causing the instant release of what little air was within his weakening lungs. “No running now.” Bardock said with that grin still sitting firmly on his face. All Saiyan’s absolutely adored that feeling of superiority, and Bardock was surely no exception.
Akuen tried his best to punch at his teacher with his opposite arm, to get a sufficient amount of momentum built up, but it was to no use, for without oxygen running through his blood, his muscles were a mere shell of their former selves. Bardock took the fist to his face, not even flinching as it made contact while he began his taunt. “What is this? You call this a punch? C’mon, the force is just enough to tickle a kitten.” Akuen didn’t want to tickle the kitten, as Bardock so rudely put it; he wanted to smother the kitten in a puddle of its own blood that he was to extract from the …nevermind.
Anyway, Bardock threw the guy back into space with a short grunt, showing about how much strength was put into it. Akuen was sent soaring into the deep recesses of space, with absolutely no hope of reaching a source of oxygen in time. Bardock chased after the hopeless man, deciding that he might as well give an explanation so that death wasn’t a sure thing. Now here’s where Saiyan pride becomes a problem. While most of you, well, the one or two people that care enough, are reading this, you may be wondering why our, well my, beloved hero, er, villain, doesn’t simply just end the training exercise. Well, he can’t, cause the engineers behind the design think that’s a cheap way to avoid pain or death, which can in fact result from one of these simulations. Ah, gotta love the Saiyan thinking process.

| By the time Bardock reached Akuen, the Dark Saiyan was on the verge of passing out. “It’s fairly simple, you know.” Bardock talked as though he’d had this ability from birth. Akuen’s eyes focused on the green armored Saiyan in anger. He just couldn’t believe this; as powerful as he was, or thought he was, all those planets he had conquered alone, none of it compared to the power held by this almighty Saiyan. “All you have to do is concentrate your ki in front of your mouth, and make it into a filter. It creates oxygen out of your raw energy.” Bardock simply kept pace with Akuen as he continued his path backwards, completely void of the strength to stop the momentum.
Despite his utter disbelief, even after seeing how obvious it was that Bardock was using this very technique right now, Akuen’s need for survival was too great to allow anything else. He gave it a shot. Akuen’s eyes closed as his aura covered him once more, though much weaker than before, as his strength was swiftly fading with the lack of oxygen. It gathered around his mouth before becoming invisible once more. Akuen couldn’t believe this; he just took a breath…in outer space. He instantly stopped his endless flight path, to which Bardock responded by doing the same. However, rather than giving his trainee an opportunity to grasp what had just happened, Bardock instead sent a fist his way.
Akuen, unaware of the things happening around him, took the hardy punch to the side of the head, and was sent on yet another flight path to the right. However, now he could respond properly. Akuen ceased the momentum just as quick as he had before, and immediately looked up, only to see Bardock standing in front of him with another fist poised for a punch. Akuen would have none of this; he wasn’t about to let this enemy Saiyan start an endless cycle of tossing him around like a torn up rag doll. The Dark Saiyan, now much angrier than before, lifted his right hand out towards the readied Bardock. The palm began to glow bright blue, a show of pure ki being charged up in a deathly focused manner. Bardock’s eyes showed that he expected nothing like this to happen, not yet. Evidently, he underestimated Akuen’s anger.
The ki became brighter and brighter in the few moments it took to become fully charged. Bardock decided it was best to not try and punch at the shiny blue energy blast. So instead he backed off of the attempted punch and dashed backwards at such high speed that he seemed to teleport. Akuen had finished charging his energy wave to full power, and released its fury while he looked to his target as his left side faced Bardock. He hadn’t the care to turn his body; this technique only required the use of a single hand, anyway. Bardock responded by holding out his right hand, palm facing up with a relaxed hold on his fingers. Just like with Akuen’s full power energy wave, Bardock’s hand too glowed with the blue energy signaled a ki blast charging. This time, however, the blue energy, which began at the center of the palm, enclosed the entire hand in a more electric form. Not to say that the energy became that of electricity, but that the ki took on a form similar to the way electricity moves, with a constant rigid spiking in random directions at all times.
Akuen’s energy fired from his palm and traveled to Bardock’s location in mere moments, whilst Bardock’s energy had just became ready. However, Bardock’s methods were slightly different from Akuen’s. The green armored Saiyan held his right hand up high once the energy was completely focused, and threw it at Akuen’s energy wave. Akuen’s smiling face suddenly took on a troubled look. He was sure that his technique would reach Bardock before the aforementioned attack was completed, but he hadn’t expected the crude tactics that would allow for a sudden launch of a technique. Either way, there was a full power energy ball slamming into his full power energy wave, and his wasn’t doing too good. He should have guessed that his technique was going to be weaker in comparison to this mighty Saiyan’s, after all, that was one of the risks of training with a Saiyan of such superior power level. Akuen was still feeding his energy wave with more ki in hopes to try and overwhelm the energy ball, named riot javelin for a personal touch by the green armored Saiyan. However, all those hopes of over powering were lost as he noticed Bardock, who was just standing there, arms crossed, and that same smile on his face.
There was no doubt in that man’s eyes, Akuen could see this. He knew he was going to win this little clash, which made Akuen realize that there was no real reason to keep this up much longer. He had a back-up plan anyway, of course; he’d simply dash away once his energy was separated from his hand in order to completely dodge the opposing technique. So he did just that. His hand ceased the flow of energy, which in turned weakened the wave enough to show just how truly fast the energy ball was, and it was astounding. Akuen’s plan fell to pieces as he realized that there was simply no hope of escaping this thing before it hit. Although, not all hope was lost. His hand remained in place, preparing to stop the oncoming ki blast as much as it possibly could. When the energy ball hit, however, Bardock’s eyes lit up in surprise as they watched a shadow grow from the center of Akuen’s palm and engulf the blue energy of Bardock’s full power energy ball.
This wasn’t all that happened, Bardock noticed, for all the little nicks and scratches present upon the Dark Saiyan’s body from all those previous attacks just faded away as if they were never there. The once blue energy ball was now completely black, as the shadows had completely covered it. Then, to Bardock’s increased amazement, the ball began to shrink into Akuen’s hand, until it was no longer there. “So you’re not just Saiyan, are you?” Bardock scoffed at the Dark Saiyan, who was shooting an especially evil grin in Bardock’s direction. He always enjoyed surprising his opponents with his darker powers, which he treasured so very much. Akuen held out his hand once more to Bardock, this time his energy surfaced and encompassed his hand, just as Bardock’s had. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” Bardock said before witness his very own technique thrown, literally thrown, back at him. He decided quickly what to do, and that was a dodge. He moved to the left in a swift movement, allowing the full power energy ball to gracefully fly by.
Bardock was too busy watching Akuen’s condensed energy soar away to notice that the Dark Saiyan had begun moving just after his technique was tossed. Goku’s father looked back forward to have his eyesight met with a fist, causing his head to turn back around in the force of it. This took Akuen by surprise, for he was sure that just a few hours ago, right after this training session had begun, that his punches would do no more than tickle this monster of a warrior. But here he was, actually causing damage to the great Saiyan warrior. How King Vegeta classed this guy as low Akuen would never know. Bardock recovered from the hit fairly quickly, and faced Akuen with a small mark on the point of impact. He rubbed the wound as his mouth once more formed into a smile. “See that? You’re getting stronger already. Guess that means your Saiyan traits are no less effective.”
The man finished nurturing his sore jaw, if one could call it nurturing, and held both hands in tight fists at his sides. Then his aura appeared, and with a mighty shout, the pressure lashed out towards the Dark Saiyan. Akuen tried to interrupt Bardock’s charge with yet another hit to the face, but that pressure was so strong that he couldn’t get any closer. In fact, it was forcing him backwards. Akuen’s eyes were being hit the hardest with the pressure, making him squint in addition to making a cross block with both arms in front of the eyes. He tried his best to keep close, so as not to seem so puny as to be swept away by a simple release of energy in this manner, but he just couldn’t stop it. His power bolstered his flight, and as he was forced back, one could almost swear that a trail of smoke followed his retreating feet as they were moved back with tremendous force.
Bardock finished his charge, now with his power level at its max, and his blue aura blatantly obvious around him. Akuen smiled as he began thinking about just how far this fight might go, especially proud that he was able to force so great a fighter to maximum power. His arms lowered slowly as his energy too spiked up. Bardock, however, was able to resist it with what looked like minimal effort. However, despite being able to interrupt the other man’s charge with little to no trouble, Bardock simply stood there and waited. He looked serious now, and seemed to have every intention of fighting this guy at full power. Akuen’s aura surrounded him with its dark power, and before long he was at his maximum as well. With two fully powered Saiyan’s facing off, Akuen was far too involved to realize that several months had already gone by and his trip would soon be over.
Things weren’t really going as planned, however, for the training simulator expected Akuen to complete the session in exactly six months, but it had already been ten. This caused a short circuit of sorts, as the simulator had no intention of allowing Akuen to leave before completing his training with Vegeta, which had yet to even begin. So, right when both fighters assumed their favored fighting pose, everything went completely black. Akuen’s mind was forced into overdrive by the simulator, and h could no longer even view what was being processed as his body was pushed to its limits without his knowledge. He blacked out, and when he woke up, he no longer saw the black of space outside his pod window, but a mixture of blue and green colors. He had landed. [1768] Learned to breathe in space. | |
